When Should I Take a Pregnancy Test?

For the most accurate pregnancy test results – take a test at least one week after your missed period. A pregnancy hormone called HCG needs this amount of time to produce a detectable amount read on a pregnancy test. 

Do I Need an Ultrasound?

After receiving a positive lab-quality pregnancy test, an ultrasound is necessary to confirm your pregnancy. An ultrasound determines:

  1. How far along you are in your pregnancy 
  2. The viability of your pregnancy (if there is a heartbeat)
  3. The location of your pregnancy (if it’s growing within your uterus or not)
